About the past march holidays. =)

March holidays are coming and i have lots of activities i have in mind. But unfortunately, my parents planned to go on a family vacation to South Africa.

The first thing that came to my mind was, "of all places, why Africa?" Africa is well-known for the safaris and wild animals. And of course it must be hot over there. I was upset about the trip and even more sad that i had to leave the activities behind.

On the 13th of March, i boarded the plane to Cape Town and it took nearly 14hours to reach. With a 6 hour difference in time, it put me in a jet lag. Upon arrival, I met the tour guides, both of which were muslims named Rithwan and Salie. After meeting them, we went into the minibus and off to our motel.

Upon reaching the 4-star motel, we saw a scenery of the mountains and the beaches. The tour guide asked, "So what do you think about Africa, Danial?" I just went speechless. He then asked,"It wasn't what you think it was isn't it? Sandy paths and the scorching sun just like on the National Geographic?" I replied, "It's totally the opposite!" with my face filled with excitement. From that moment I knew I would not be filled with en nui on this trip.

On the first day of the tour, we went to Table Mountain and did some sight-seeing. The Table Mountain is one of the tourist-attraction which is well-known for it's unique shape that looks like a table.

The second day was the tour to ostrich farm and penguins. The ostrich farm was educational for me as I now know that by rearing ostriches, one can make money from the feathers, meat and even eggs. The eggs can withstand a pressure of 150KG and believe me my father did stand on one of the eggs and it did not crack a bit. Apart from that, the ostriches have eyes that are bigger then their brains and is able to see a distance of 3KM. It was a great tour to the ostrich farm but I am bored when it comes to the penguins. The penguins were so cute but they are like statues standing at the same position without moving for 20 minutes. And that was really boring.

On the third and the last day we went to Seal Colony, Cape Point, Malay Village and did some shopping at Square City. My mum and i had a slight moment which my mum and i got sea-sickness. It put me off mood knowing the tour to Seal Colony went to waste. Luckily we went to Cape Point where the two oceans; Atlantica and Indian meet. I got some postcard pictures there and the scenery was exquisite.
Lastly we went to the Malay Village to catch a glimpse of the venerable mosques then we did some shopping.

The trip came to an end after the excitement four day tour by Salie who is a solomon when it comes to the tourist spots. Leaving South Africa made me sorrowful because the place is so lovely. I wish I could stay in South Africa where the wind, scenery and atmosphere is majestic and the people there is well-mannered. This is definitely a holiday i did not regret.
=DD
